Bicycle Trio

I'm back today to share another project for the Splitcoast Love Fest challenges. This one was for the day 9 "A Little Love" challenge sponsored by Taylored Expressions.

I created a trio of 3x3 notecards using the In the Park stamp set. I'd forgotten just how fun it is to make small notecards and how quickly they come together!

I started with a card base of Kraft cardstock then added a layer of Berrylicious, which I ran through my swiss dots embossing folder. Then I stamped the bicycle image with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending card and coloured the bikes with copic markers. No fancy shading...just straight colouring, which is why I forgot to take a picture of the markers I used. I used my Circle 1 STAX Die-namics to cut out the images and stitched them in place. The I used my Fishtail Flags Layers STAX Die-namics to cut out the Orange Fizz and Wild Cherry sentiment flags. I attached them along the bottom of the cards then added Orange Fizz and Wild Cherry buttons tied with Hemp Cord.

Here's the orange bike:

Here's the red bike:

And here's the blue bike (my favorite of the three eventhough my bike in real life is red):

Thinking of You

My card today combines two Splitcoast challenges, the Love Fest day 8 inspiration challenge and the new Mix-Ability mixed media challenge MIX4 (to use water and a water soluble medium).

I'm a total mixed media newbie and I've been lurking around the Mix-Ability forum for a few days, checking it all out, watching the fabulous video tutorials they've put together, contemplating jumping in, running away instead, then going back to check it out again. But when I saw the MIX4 challenge I knew it was a good one for me to start with.

I started with a good piece of water colour paper then I pulled out my Distress Markers and scribbled a few colours onto my splat mat (referring to the Love Fest day 8 inspiration challenge to choose my colours). I used a water brush to pick up the colours and created this watercolour background. I dried it with my heat tool (because I'm not patient enough to wait for it to dry) then I stamped the image from Inspired by the Beach using Ranger Archival Ink in jet black. I knew I'd be tweaking my watercolouring just a bit along the beach so I used an ink that's permanent and waterproof. Then I went back and added more sand along the water line. I used  a dark brown marker to colour the chairs once the paper was dry again.

I mounted the watercolour paper onto a Hot Fudge Panel and chose a sentiment from Inspired by Flowers #1. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and embossed it with vanilla powder. I cut out the Sea Charms Die-namics from Kraft cardstock and tied the shell in place using Hemp Cord and a Natural button. The card base is Whip Cream.

I really want to be sitting in one of those chairs right about now! LOL!

Peace {MFTWSC113}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch 113.

I went the Christmas card route and created card #5 for Project Christmas 2013 using Inspired By Christmas.

I started with a card base of Whip Cream then added a layer of Kraft and a layer of Sno Cone. The patterned paper is from the Carta Bella Winter Fun collection and I inked the edges with Kraft Premium Dye Ink. I was going to use some ribbon for the strip across the middle but then I remembered I had some burlap and I thought it would tie in nicely with the soft colours I was using.

I used the Circle 1 STAX Die-namics to cut out the Kraft circle then I stamped the sleigh image with white craft ink and embossed it with white powder. I inked around the edges of the circle to soften it a little.

I used the Fishtail Flags Layers STAX Die-namics to cut out the Whip Cream strip then stamped the sentiment with Kraft Premium Dye Ink. I ran it through the same die a second time to trim the straight end into a flag. I used the medium size of the Let It Snowflake Die-namics to cut out the patterned paper snowflake.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas.

There's a prize each week for one participant, chosen at random. You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish. Each week a keyword is assigned to the sketch, and this week's keyword is MFTWSC113. All you need to do to enter is upload your card to the gallery at Splitcoast and enter the given keyword in the keyword box during the upload process. After the deadline (noon Eastern on Tuesday) we randomly choose a winner from that week's entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher. If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!

Be sure to head over to the MFT Blog to view the entire list of design team participants...there's plenty of inspiration for you with today’s sketch!
