MFTeaser - TGIF

Welcome to day one of seven fabulous days of MFT teasers!!!

Ok, so it's Wednesday and not Friday, but at least Friday is just two sleeps away!!!

So I created a fun card with the new Who's That Girl? Gets Down to Business. Doesn't she look chic in her gorgeous suit!

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black and paper pieced her suit with patterns from the Carta Bella Beautiful Moments paper pad. The rest of the image was coloured with copic markers and I added two clear rhinestones for the buttons on her jacket.

There are so many great sentiments in this set, and I chose TGIF for the front of the card. I used the Sentiment Strips Die-namics to cut out the polka dot paper then trimmed the end off. The curved arrow from Lead the Way Die-namics was perfect for drawing attention to the sentiment.

Check out the beautiful new Layered Rose Die-namics flower...swoon!!! It's five layers of beautifully shaped petals, so you can use all the layers, like I did here, or choose certain sizes to layer together. I topped it with a Whip Cream button and used the Royal Leaves Die-namics to cut out the yellow polka dot paper. The new Triple Scallop Border Die-namics was perfect for cutting out the striped paper, which helps tie all the colours together.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from the set and used the Triple Scallop Border Die-namics again to cut out the yellow card stock.

Merry Little Christmas

It's been ages since I played along with a Splitcoast sketch challenge, so I dug into SC393 and made card #23 for Project Christmas 2012.

I wasn't sure how this card would turn out because the sketch is quite different from anything I normally do. But that's the good thing about challenges, right? They get us out of our comfort zone. I used the Jumbo Banner Days STAX Die-namics to cut out the patterned paper (which is My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas), and I cut out the same size from cream card stock. Then I simply trimmed the edges of the patterned piece to reveal the cream mat. I wanted the scalloped piece to stretch right across my card so I cut it out using the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namics and wrapped some Maraschino Red twine around it. I chose Red Hot card stock for the sentiment panel, and the sentiment is from Inspired by Christmas from MFT. The Let It Snowflakes Die-namics were a given as embellishments and I cut them from cream card stock and Puff Cloud White felt.

On the inside I used a combination of the same Die-namics dies and another sentiment from the set, stamped directly onto the Kraft base layer.

Sweet Sunday Ocean

It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC164.

The sketch threw me a little with the little tag element but I think it worked out nicely on my card.

I decided to use Inspired by the Beach from My Favorite Things. I stamped the image with Brilliance Graphite Black onto Kraft card stock and added the sentiment below. The patterned papers are from the My Mind's Eye Portobello Road collection. I used the Traditional Tags STAX Die-namics to cut out the tag element, layered it with Hot Fudge card stock, then looped some Flax Twine through the hole.

I wrapped some hemp twine around the entire card and added a shell charm which I cut out using the Sea Charms Die-namics. I inked the edges of all the layers with antique linen distress inks.

I hope you'll play along with this week's sketch and link your creation on Karen's blog. Now it's time to go see what the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers created.

Birthday Girl

Today is a special post because My Favorite Things and Buttons Galore and More have teamed up for a fun blog hop featuring products from both companies. The great thing is, there are four $25 prizes up for grabs, so you have four chances to win, just by leaving comments. You have until July 29th to comment and the winners of all four prizes will be announced on both the MFT Blog and the Buttons Galore and More blog. When you're done reading here, hop over to the MFT Blog for a full list of participating designers.

I made a birthday card to add to my stash, using the sweet Pure Innocence My Balloon. I haven't used this image in soooooo long, she was just calling my name. The layout is Mojo249.

I started out by choosing the patterned paper, Echo Park A Walk in the Park, then I matched up some buttons from Buttons Galore and More. They really have a wide range of buttons, brads and more.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black then coloured her with copic markers. I paper pieced her sweet jumper and accented it with an orange Spica glitter pen. The image was cut out using the Rectangle 2 STAX Die-namics and I cut out the Orange Fizz layer with the Rectangle 1 STAX Die-namics. The Sentiment Strips Die-namics was perfect for the sentiment then I added a big, shiny Waterfall button for the balloon. You can also see that I used the Small Scallop Border Die-namics to cut out the yellow strip then topped it with some Whip Cream grosgrain ribbon.

In keeping with the sketch, I added three more buttons at the bottom of the card, two Sunflower buttons and another Waterfall button.

Funny Thing {MFTWSC82}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch 82.

I wasn't in a colouring mood (shocking!) when I was working on this card so I reached for Vertical Greetings II Stamps and Die-namics and one of the fabulous saying from the set.

I knew I didn't want to go with bright colours for today's card so I chose papers from the My Mind's Eye Nutmeg collection and stuck with neutrals and blues.

I cut out the sentiment panel from patterned paper and it was a little flimsy so I also cut out the same shape from Kraft card stock and adhered the two layers together for a little more rigidity. I stamped the sentiment with Versamagic Ocean Depth (I'm loving my new Versamagic chalk inks) and added some rhinestones for a little bling. For the tab I simply used the Small Scallop Border Die-namics to cut out the blue patterned paper then trimmed it down to five scallops.

For the flower I used the smallest size of the Botanical Beauty Die-namics to cut out some cream card stock and the center was cut from Kraft card stock. I can't seem to get enough of the new MFT Buttons so I added a Berrylicious button to the center. The Dizzy Border Die-namics was perfectly lacy and delicate for the horizontal element.

Here are the sketchy details:

There's a prize each week for one participant, chosen at random. You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish. Each week a keyword is assigned to the sketch, and this week's keyword is MFTWSC82. All you need to do to enter is upload your card to the gallery at Splitcoast and enter the given keyword in the keyword box during the upload process. After the deadline (noon Eastern on Tuesday) we randomly choose a winner from that week's entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher. If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!
Be sure to head over to the MFT Blog to view the entire list of design team participants...there's plenty of inspiration for you with today’s sketch!

Let it Snow

Well, I don't really want it to snow, but I did create a wintery Christmas card to add to my stash, making this card #22 for Project Christmas 2012.

I went with a non-traditional colour combo of Sweet Tooth and Grape Jelly card stocks from MFT.

I started by cutting out several snowflakes from Sweet Tooth card stock using the Let It Snowflake Die-namics, then I glued them to the base layer. I like the effect of white on white.

I broke up the base panel with a sentiment strip made from the same colours. I use the Icicle Border Die-namics to cut out the icicle strip and the Sentiments Strips Die-namics were perfect for the sentiment, which is from the Merry & Bright set. I added some Lilac twine and three Grapesicle Buttons to finish it off.
