MFTeasers-Day Three!

It's Pure Innocence day for MFT Teasers and can I just say, they are stinkin' cute!!!

Let's get right to it then, shall we? I used PI Skater Boy for my card today. I always have so much fun paper piecing the PI girls, and this little guy was just as much fun to "dress".

The patterned papers are from my Basic Grey Life of the Party pad...it's full of great masculine colours. He's stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and whatever wasn't paper pieced was coloured with copics. I love cutting these little people out and popping them on Jody's foam boosters for a little dimension. The embossing folder I used on the blue layer is called Diamond Plate.

My new open zig zag border along with the stacking stars die-namics are perfect elements for boyish (or manly) cards, and I thought the cork was a fun addition instead of just using cardstock. I also added some Pea Pod Twine for a little pop of colours. The layout is SC327.

MFTeasers-Day Two!

There's plenty of new MFT to share again today and I chose to work with Clearly Sentimental About Success. The sayings and quotes in this set are truly wonderful, and maybe you were lucky enough to scoop up CS About Success last month when it was the triple scoop promo. If not, you'll definitely want to add it to your cart this month.

My card is also doubling as a sample for the Guest Designer contest, Blue Jeans & Bling, which is in full swing now. I used my simply scallops medium die-namic on some actual denim for the horizontal border, and the bling...well it's pretty evident! LOL!

Love these new Well Worn Labels die-namics...they work with so many other sets aside from the coordinating Well Worn Greetings. The patterned papers are from my My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Hattie 6x6 pad.

MFTeasers-Day One!

It's day one of MFT teasers and today I'm sharing the newest Flapper Doodle - S.S. Flapper set.

How cute are they in their little motor boat!! I went for the old school look of a wooden boat and paper pieced practically the entire image, layer upon layer. Those skinny little arms were a challenge to cut out and I was afraid I'd amputate one by mistake, but patience and sharp scissors paid off!

The patterned papers are from my October Afternoon Seaside paper pad and whatever wasn't paper pieced was coloured with copics. I just love how quick the Flappers are to colour. I added  a little metallic sparkle to the motor with my clear Spica glitter pen and layered some patterned waves with my catch a wave die-namic.

I used the smallest flower from the pretty posies die-namics for the accent on the sentiment and added a felt flat bottom cloud for dimension. The open scallop doily die-namic kind of acts like the sun in the background and see that new scalloped ribbon die-namic along the bottom...isn't it delish!!!

On the inside I stamped the sentiment "we're in the same boat" directly onto the scalloped ribbon die-namic and kept the rest quite simple.

No Tie when it Comes to You...

I was in a masculine card kinda mood when I created this one. I haven't done a masculine card for quite some time now, but I knew I'd get right back into the groove with my Boys Will Be Boys set from Taylored Expressions.

I  used papers from Crate Paper's Toy Box collection and paper pieced the three ties onto a choice buttercream background. I cut out the focal image with my oval Nestabilities. The layout is SSS105, and I thought the simplicity of the sketch was great for a masculine card. Manly embellishments are always difficult, so I stuck with a couple of punched stars and a button. I tied in the stars by embossing the background layer with my stars impression plate.

I'm keeping this short and sweet because my parents are here visiting and today my mom and I are off to get our hair done. She really likes my hair stylist so she goes to see her each time she visits.  :-)

I've been keeping a secret...

And it's a really BIG secret that's been SO hard to keep!!!! I was asked to join the Design Team for My Favorite Things and I screamed YES!!!! How exciting is that??!?!!?!!??? But I'm not the only new addition to the MFT DT...hop on over to Kim's blog to read the official announcement. Be sure to come back here though because I have a card to share...I'll wait for you...

...thanks for coming back!! This card tells the story perfectly of the telephone conversation when Kim and Jody called to pop the question.

I used Flapper Doodles-My Favorite Hello (HOW appropriate is this set for this card?!?) and Say What Stamp & Die set, along with Jen's April Sketch For You To Try for the layout.

In case you didn't guess, I'm the Flapper girls. I turned the talk bubble into a thought bubble because that's exactly what I was thinking, and my reaction is on the inside of the card!! This was so much fun to create!!

I used plenty of die-namics too: little open scallop strip, mini rolled roses, small scalloped border, and upsy daisy for the leaves.

Teasers start tomorrow and I think you're going to love this release as much as I do!!!!!

Class Act {MFTWSC17}

It's time for sketch #17 with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club. I hope you've been playing along, but if not, it's never to late to start!

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew exactly which image I wanted to use, You Rule a la mode. She's so slender, she fits perfectly in the narrow panel. She totally reminds me of Emma from Glee, with her puffy shoulder shirt and shoulder length hair.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black onto choice buttercream and coloured her with copics. The patterned papers are from my Cosmo Cricket UPcycle mini deck and I used one of the patterns to paper piece her skirt.

I used the narrow end of my Spellbinders Labels 8 to cut out the sentiment and added a notebook edge to the polka dot panel with my notebook edge die-namic. For the flower I used my upsy-daisy die-namics with a combination of sage shadow cardstock and patterned paper. I topped it with a gold button and a pink sorbet twine bow.

Here are all the sketch details:

There's a prize each week for one participant, chosen at random. You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish. Each week a keyword is assigned to the sketch, and this week's keyword is MFTWSC17. All you need to do to enter is upload your card to the gallery at Splitcoast and enter the given keyword in the keyword box during the upload process. After the deadline (noon Eastern on Tuesday) we randomly choose a winner from that week's entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher. If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!
Be sure to head over to Kim's Blog to view the entire list of design team participants...there's plenty of inspiration for you with today’s sketch!

Sweet Sunday Penguins

I couldn't resist making another card with this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC14. This is card #13 for Project Christmas 2011. I used the fun Round the Chimney set from The Cat's Pajamas. These little penguins are totally adorable!!

I have to say, I can't remember the last time I made a card without using patterned paper, but there's not a stitch of patterned paper on this one! I did "make my own" patterned paper though by repeating the sentiment on the smaller panel...it's a neat effect!

The image is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto choice snow white and coloured with copics. I added a few coats of clear glaze pen to the glass and some fluffy white liquid applique trim to the stockings and hat. I wrapped some Green Apple Divine Twine around the bottom of the card and anchored it in place with some layered snowflakes. I really love the simple look of this card!!

Sweet Sunday Birthdays

It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC114.

Today is a VERY sweet Sunday indeed seeing as three of our Sweet Sunday Stampers are celebrating their birthdays (I know!!! Seriously...three out of 7 people...what are the chances!!). Let's give big birthday wishes to Karen G., Sarah-Jane, and Vicki.
Happy Birthday girls!!!

Of course I just had to make a birthday card in celebration, so I used my new Treasure Life set from Taylored Expressions. I paired it with sweet papers from the Girls Paperie.

Rather than colouring the apothecary jars I decided to paper piece them and I just love the end result! The apothecary jar dies came in handy for cutting out the images. I also used my scalloped eyelet border die along the bottom and the leafy branch die behind the flower.

I hope you'll play along with this week's sketch and link your creation on Karen's blog. Now it's time to hop around and see what the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers came up with. Don't forget to leave birthday hugs on the birthday girls' blogs!!!
