Your Smile, Be You, and Take Note

It's time to shop for the September release at My Favorite Things! Hooray!! You'll find all the new products in the Brand Spankin' New section of the MFT Boutique.

The design team has a recap of all the new products though, just in case you need a little more inspiration, so hop over to the MFT Blog for a list of participating designers.

I worked with the fun new Sunny Day Doodles Celebrate Life stamp set. I adore these doodle sentiments and I've created three cards to share tonight.

I'll start out with my colourful rainbow card.

When I read this sentiment I immediately thought of rainbows...they always bring a smile to my face...so I created a rainbow background to highlight the fun sentiment. I started with a Sweet Tooth background then added a layer of Black Licorice. I cut strips of Orange Fizz, Banana Split, Sour Apple, Blu Raspberry and Grape Jelly and stitched them to the black base layer.

For the sentiment panel I used the Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-namics to cut out the Black Licorice rectangle and layered it onto some Sweet Tooth. I stamped the sentiment from Sunny Day Doodles Celebrate Life with versamark ink and heat embossed it with white powder. Then I used coloured pencils to colour in the word 'smile'.

My next card uses only part of one of the sentiments from Sunny Day Doodles Celebrate Life.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card base again then added layers of Grape Jelly and Blu Raspberry. The colours on this card were actually inspired by the bottom three colours of my rainbow card. I stamped the bottom of the Blu Raspberry layer with the dots from Large Scale Backgrounds (this month's Free with $60 set) using Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink, then used the Small Scallop Border Die-namics to cut out the Sour Apple scallop. I stamped the "Be-You" from "Be-You-tiful" with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card and coloured it with copic markers.

I paired the sentiment with one of the girls from Stylish Friends. She was also coloured with copic markers, then I cut her out and adhered her with foam tape for dimension.

Finally I added a flag element in the top right corner, using the smallest size of the Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX Die-namics to cut out the Sour Apple flag. The butterfly was cut from Smooth White using the Winged Beauties Die-namics then I stamped the coordinating butterfly from Winged Beauties using Grape Jelly Premium Dye Ink.

My last card uses the layout from last week's Wednesday Stamp Club sketch but it has a fun little twist. I know I'm too late to link up my card on the MFT blog, but I just couldn't let the week go by without playing along with MFTWSC139.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card base again then added a layer of Steel Grey. I used the Textile Backgrounds stamped with Steel Grey Premium Dye Ink to add pattern to the Steel Grey layer. I used the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namics to cut out the Electric Red scallop.

For the focal point I used the Napkin Ring and Place card Die-namics (an MFT EXCLUSIVE product) to cut out the Smooth White piece and I folded it in half so it actually opens up to reveal another sentiment. On the front I stamped the sentiment from Sunny Day Doodles Celebrate Life with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink then added some sparkle thanks to my red and black Spica glitter pens. I used the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics to cut out the Kraft and Electric Red flags, then used the Hearts-a-Plenty Die-namics to cut out the heart from corrugated cardboard.

And here's the inside of the focal point. Another sentiment from Sunny Day Doodles Celebrate Life stamped with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink and coloured with red and black Spica glitter pens. I love this little interactive element!

Happy shopping and happy hopping!
