What's the Buzz?

I wanted to try using my Prismacolour Pencils on Kraft ever since seeing Inge's fabulous tutorial for the MFT Academy. Here's the link in case you want to give it a try.

I used the Doodle Garden Sweet as can Bee stamp set. I followed Inge's colour selections exactly for the skin and hair then I deviated for the body. I have to tell you, it was looking a little weird after just colouring the skin and I almost threw in the towel at that point. But just like when you're decorating a room (don't judge the wall colour until the room is all put together), I reminded myself not to judge the image until it was completely coloured. And I'm sooooo happy I persevered! By the time I was finished with the hair I was quite happy and once the body was coloured I was grinning from ear to ear. I added a little Star Dust Stickles for sparkly wings.

The layout uses the Blueprints 2 Die-namics...LOVE the Blueprints!!! The base layer is Kraft and I placed it on a Sweet Tooth card base. All the elements on this card were cut out using the Blueprints 2 Die-namics, including the Kraft layer. I used a ruler and a black copic multiliner to draw a frame around the entire card.

I cut out the two small tabs from Steel Grey card stock and added two yellow sequins for a little more sparkle.

For the elements across the bottom I used Steel Grey again, then I cut the two strips from Lemon Drop card stock but the yellow was just too bright. I tried with Orange Fizz but it wasn't bright enough. Then I had a lightbulb moment and inked the Lemon Drop strips with a Orange Fizz Premium Dye Ink...perfect!!!

On the inside I stamped the bee again with Orange Fizz Premium Dye Ink in the upper right corner and added another sentiment from Doodle Garden Sweet as can Bee using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. Then I used the Open Hexagon Border Die-namics to cut out the Lemon Drop and Steel Grey hexagons to create the honeycomb look. I inked the Lemon Drop ones with Orange Fizz Premium Dye Ink.

Here are the supplies I used:

Okay, now this is over the top amazing!! I can't believe you only used pencils - your shading is spectacular! Let's talk about those sequins too and that you inked over the Lemon strip with Orange Fizz...brilliant. I LOVE the inside - her flying up in the corner and those hexagons with the one black one...well, I LOVE this card and I also notice that it's very flat for mailing...I'm just saying (wink, wink) :)

Ya, um, I’m pretty sure Jodi meant she also agreed “that it was perfectly flat for mailing to Canada” :)

Inside and out perfection, Karen! Love your coloring and am now itching to try this out, too. The hexagons inside are so fun, especially with her peeking in from the top.
