My card today was created with a very specific purpose. One of my flying friends (we were getting our private pilot license at the same time) recently got his instrument rating. It's a difficult rating to get and I know how much work goes into earning it. This means he can now fly in the clouds, weather permitting. Yay!
I used the Jumbo Cloud STAX Die-namics to create the big cloud base from Whip Cream card stock. I knew I wanted the airplane to look like it was flying in the clouds, so I added two more layers of clouds, which I embossed with the polka dots embossing folder. I used the Airplane Greetings stamps and Die-namics to create the plane. I cut the body and wing from Kraft cardstock then stamped the stripe with Wild Cherry Premium Dye Ink. I cut the propeller from Wild Cherry cardstock.
For the star detail on the tail I used one of the circle elements from Airplane Greetings stamp set to stamp the yellow circle with Lemon Drop Premium Dye Ink. Then I used the Notched Tag Die-namics to cut out the small blue star and coated it with Star Dust Stickles for some sparkle. I mounted the smaller clouds on foam tape for a little dimension.
On the inside I added the tail of another plane towing a banner. I stamped the sentiment on the banner with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. In retrospect, the card front would have looked better if I'd put the score line on the back piece instead, but I guess this way you get to see the mechanics of how I assembled the two pieces. :-)
Congratulations Nick!!!!
Here are the supplies I used:
