MFTeaser - Baby Shower, Happy Birthday, and a Tip

Welcome to day six of seven fabulous days of MFT teasers!

Today is party time with new stamp sets and Die-namics themed for the important events in your life. I created a fun rainbow birthday card then sweet baby shower invitation using You're Invited, the Triple Scoop set for this release. That means you'll earn it FREE with a qualifying order! All the new products will be available in the MFT Boutique on July 9th at 10pm EDT. Hop over to the MFT Blog for a list of today's participating designers and for the amazing prize info!

I created this card to coordinate with the baby card I made on the first day of teasers, so I stuck with the same colour combination. I started with a Sweet Tooth card base and added a layer of Kraft. Then I used the gorgeous Modern Morocco Die-namics to cut out the Sweet Tooth layer. I backed it with another layer of Sweet Tooth because I wanted lots of white in the background, but I love the texture!

The Umbrella Die-namics seemed like a perfect pairing for a baby shower card so I cut it out of Sweet Tooth, Pink Lemonade, and Kraft. I used the small dots from Washi Patterns, stamped with Pink Lemonade Premium Dye Ink, to add pattern to the umbrella sections. I thought it looked pretty on a Banana Split background so I used the new Pierced Circles Die-namics to cut out the circle.

For the sentiment I stamped "baby" with Pink Lemonade Premium Dye Ink onto the Pink Lemonade strip then stamped "shower" with versamark ink and heat embossed it with white powder. This card is nice and simple and would be easy to replicate for invitations, but you need somewhere for all the information, so I put that on the inside.

I started by stamping the lines with Kraft Premium Dye Ink, then I added the small words from You're Invited with Pink Lemonade Premium Dye Ink. I stamped the balloon image from Party Balloons with Pink Lemonade Premium Dye Ink and added the zig zag from Jumbo Mod Borders with Banana Split Premium Dye Ink.

*** Some of the products I used today are exclusive to My Favorite Things. The Party Balloons stamp set, along with the Party Balloons Die-namics and the Happy Birthday Die-namics are available only in the MFT Boutique as part of the 7th birthday bash! ***

Up next is my rainbow birthday card. I'm in love with the rainbow colours!!

I used the fun new Happy Birthday Die-namics to create the sentiment. I started by lining up the word "birthday" along the bottom of the Kraft layer and running it through my Vagabond. I saved the innerds of the letters to add them in later. Then I used the "happy" and cut out letters in Wild Cherry, Orange Fizz, Lemon Drop, Sour Apple and Blu Raspberry. (Scroll down for my TIP on spacing the letters.) I covered the rainbow of letters with Stickles and once that was dry I gave them a generous coating of glossy accents for a faux epoxy look. Oh, and I layered some Grape Jelly card stock behind the word "birthday", to finish off the rainbow of colours.

I used the Party Balloons Die-namics to cut out the Smooth White balloon then stamped it with Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink. I added the string and bow using Kraft Premium Dye Ink.

On the inside I added another rainbow (or part of a rainbow) element using the chevron from Jumbo Mod Borders. I actually cut my stamp apart, cutting off just two chevrons, which made it super easy to get the rainbow effect. Because the stamps are clear it's really easy to line them up. The Premium Dye Inks I used were Grape Jelly, Blu Raspberry, Sour Apple and Lemon Drop. Then I stamped a sentiment from Birthday Greetings using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink.

TIP:
I wanted to ensure that I lined up the letters in the word "happy" with the proper spacing so....

I used one of the negative cut words and taped it in place where I wanted the letters (I used low-tack painter's tape).

Then I placed each letter into the corresponding space and glued it down.

VoilĂ ! Perfectly placed and spaced letters!

wow both cards are awesome. I always forget about my umbrella die. it makes a perfect baby shower invite. Your Birthday card is perfect with your tip on how to line up the letters.

Love 'em Karen! Could've used those dies...I've got THREE baby showers next month, and they're all GIRLS! LOL. You go years without a baby shower, then get his with 3 in one month? LOL. Anyway, great tip too...my "perfectionist" comes out when I'm creating and get so frustrated if something isn't line-up-perfectly.
