Peace and Believe

Today the MFT Design Team is celebrating Christmas in July with all kinds of holiday card inspiration. If you're a regular reader here then you know I try and create Christmas cards all year long, so this challenge was right up my alley. I made two cards, numbers 12 and 13 for Project Christmas 2013.

Hop on over to the MFT blog for all the details and for a list of participating designers, and hopefully you'll be inspired to get a head start on holiday cards.

First up is my sparkly poinsettia card.

I used the gorgeous Poinsettia Die-namics to cut out the flower from Paver Red and Wild Cherry, then I sprayed the flowers with MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist for lots of sparkle. I don't think you can ever have too much sparkle at the holidays. The flower center was cut from Hot Fudge and Lemon Drop, then I used Factory Green and Gumdrop Green for the leaves.

The background is the new Modern Morocco Die-namics...love! I cut it from Kraft card stock then layered it onto more Kraft before attaching it to the Primitive White card base. The sentiment is from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas and it's stamped with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. It's part of a longer sentiment, but I only inked the 'peace' word.

Here's a shot of all the shimmer and sparkle on the flower

Next up is the adorable Santa card.

I used the Blueprints 1 Die-namics and one of the provided layouts, and this card came together in no time! I started with a Primitive White card base then used the Blueprints 1 Die-namics to cut out the Kraft Layer. I inked the edges with Kraft Premium Dye Ink.

I stamped Pure Innocence Little Santa with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card and coloured him with copic markers, then I fussy cut around him. He's layered onto Primitive White and Kraft layers, which I cut out using the Blueprints 1 Die-namics.

The Wild Cherry scallop rectangle and the Hot Fudge strip were also cut out using the Blueprints 1 Die-namics, along with the sentiment tab. I used the Darling Dots stamp set and some Wild Cherry Premium Dye Ink to jazz up the red scallop square. I stamped the sentiment with Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink and attached it with a brad.

Here's a shot of the dimension. I added some white Liquid Appliqué to the fur trim on his suit.
