Sweet Little Bug

My card today is for another challenge in the Hope You Can Cling To event on Splitcoast. This time I chose HYCCT1201B, to create a card for a child.

I thought Pure Innocence Lady Bug was a perfect stamp set to use for a child's card. Check out the embossed Kraft layer...it's a new-to-me embossing folder, Geometric Circles...love!!! The base layer is Steel Grey on a Sweet Tooth card base.

I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card and coloured her skin and hair with copic markers. I paper pieced her outfit then fussy cut around her. For lots of sparkle I added a coating of black Spica glitter pen to the polka dots and some Star Dust Stickles to her wings. I used the Circle 1 STAX and Circle 2 STAX Die-namics to cut out the gingham circle and the white layer before stitching them together. The patterned paper is from the Pebbles Walnut Grove paper pad and the layout is Mojo262.

I used the Pretty Posies Die-namics to cut out the Blu Raspberry felt flower and topped it with a Sweet Tooth button tied with Hemp Cord. I used the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics and the Fishtail Flags Layers STAX Die-namics to cut out all the flag elements on the front and the inside of the card.

On the inside I added another sentiments from the set. Hopefully this will bring a smile to the face of the child who receives this card.

I created this fun card to inspire you, using the guest designer sketch for this month and fun papers from the My Mind's Eye Come Away With Me paper pack.

I paired the patterned paper with Kraft, Nightshift Blue, Whip Cream and SU Riding Hood Red. I used the Postage Border Die-namics to cut out the red strip then added a piece of Nightshift Blue Grosgrain Ribbon right below it to separate it from the striped paper.

The Peek-a-boo Squared Die-namics was perfect for cutting out the focal point and the small transportation dies from You Move Me Die-namics fit perfectly in the circles! The word "escape" is from one of the sentiments in Clearly Sentimental about Summer Vacation and I used the Mini Ticket Strip Die-namics to cut out the Whip Cream tickets.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Summer Vacation with Memento Tuxedo Black and added a strip of tickets from the patterned paper pack.

Have Hope

Have you had a chance to play along with any of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges over on Splitcoast? Well, what are you waiting for?!? There are great prizes and a new challenge every day in October, so there are plenty of reasons to play along. Not to mention the cards are going to a very good cause.

I made this card for the Peaceful Pink challenge, HYCCT1215A...to create a card that evokes peace, calm, and serenity with a pop of pink. I chose a pretty sky paper from the Glitz Hello Friend paper pack and paired it with Sweet Tooth and Kraft cardstocks. I used the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namics to cut out the scalloped edge. The layout is from the Retro Sketches blog, RS#34, but I flipped it and I'm using the mirror image.

Butterflies are peaceful to me, the way they flutter along the wind currents, so I used Inspired by Butterflies from My Favorite Things for the image, stamped with Memento Peanut Brittle ink. I cut out the butterfly with the coordinating Inspired By Butterflies Die-namics and I used the Plentiful Petals Die-namics to cut out the Pink Lemonade flower on which the butterfly is landing. The sentiment from Have Hope was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and I added a rhinestone flourish for a touch of bling.
