MFTeaser - Splash and Hello

Welcome to day three of seven fabulous days of MFT teasers!

Today I created two fun and bright cards using the amazingly fun new Abstract Art stamp set. The new products will be available in the MFT Boutique on June 11th at 10pm EST. Be sure to hop over to the MFT Blog for a list of today's participating designers. You won't want to miss any of the fabulous samples the team has created.

Both of my cards are clean and simple, but I'll start with the cleaner and simpler one.  :-)

I wasn't quite sure where I was going with this card when I started it, and in fact, I was a little afraid of the Abstract Art stamp set. Eeks! Yes, I'll admit it...I didn't really know what to do with it at first. But, I jumped in with two feet and three bright colours, and I absolutely adore the end result. I had so much fun using Abstract Art that I kept on going and made a second card...but more on that in a minute.

Abstract Art is full of splatters and brush stroke images. You could use the same stamps over and over and never get the exact same look...it's so cool! I chose three bright ink colours, Razzle Berry Premium Dye Ink, Orange Fizz Premium Dye Ink, and Sour Apple Premium Dye Ink, and randomly stamped splatters in the top right and bottom left corners of the Smooth White panel. I added a brush stroke image along the bottom to help draw the eye across the card.

I chose a sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Art and stamped it with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink onto the Sweet Tooth layer, then I added a trio of rhinestones for a little sparkle. I placed the layer on foam tape then decided the card needed another black element to help the sentiment pop a little more. Enter the new Washi Patterns stamp set. I used the line image and stamped it with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink along the bottom of the Sweet Tooth card base. I only had to stamp it twice to cover the width of the card. I think it was the perfect accent to draw attention to the sentiment.

**********
Next up is another clean and simple card with a bit of a busier background, thanks to the fun Peek-a-Boo Dots Die-namics.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card base then added a layer of Black Licorice. The finished size of this card is 4.25 inches square. I used the Peek-a-Boo Dots Die-namics to cut out the circles on the square layer of Sweet Tooth. I ran the die through my Vagabond three times, first in the middle, then on the left side, and finally on the right side. Coincidentally, the circles lined up perfectly with the left and right edges, which makes this layer look like the cut out remains of a sheet of sequins. I know there's a name for that stuff but I can't think of it at the moment. I layered some Razzle Berry card stock under the circles for a pop of colour.

For the sentiment panel I used a layer of Smooth White and some Orange Fizz. I stamped the three different brush strokes using Sour Apple Premium Dye Ink, Orange Fizz Premium Dye Ink, and Razzle Berry Premium Dye Ink. Then I added the sentiment from Blissful Butterflies using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. After the layers were all assembled I realized this card also needed a little more black to help define the sentiment so I stamped a narrow brush stroke from Abstract Art along the bottom of the green. VoilĂ ! Two cheery and fun cards!!

Great use of color and new prodcuts! Like the simplicity of the first card. The b+w washi stamped strip really sets off your colors. The peek-a-boo circles are fab for the background to your awesomely stamped and layered square card! Lovin them both! :)
