Sweet Sunday Hugs

It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC168.

This week's sketch was perfect for a sentiment focal point so I used one of the sayings from Big Greetings from My Favorite Things, along with papers from the Simple Stories Summer Fresh collection. The Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics were perfect for cutting out the three vertical elements.

The little post card is part of the Summer Fresh paper pad and as soon as I saw it I knew it was meant to be the focal point. I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black and used my copic multiliner to add the "XOXO". And check out the little "hello sunshine" in light blue type in the lower left corner...how perfect is that! I used the heart and butterfly shapes from the Notched Tags Die-namics to cut out the three little elements. The hearts were cut from Wild Cherry felt for a little texture. The card base is Kraft card stock layered onto Wild Cherry.

I hope you'll play along with this week's sketch challenge and link your creation on Karen's blog. Now it's time to hop around and see what the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers created.

Miss You a Latte

Would you like a chance to win over $200 in new stamps and Die-namics from My Favorite Things? Well, all you need to do is play along with the October Guest Designer Contest. Read all the details on THIS THREAD on Splitcoast.

The challenge this month is a sketch and since I'm part of the MFT Design Team, I wanted to help get your creative juices flowing so I created this fun card. I love the row of bling along the Wild Cherry strip, which I cut out using the Mini Monarch Border Die-namics.

I reached for my much neglected à la modes Miss You a Latte set and paired her with patterned papers from the My Mind's Eye Gnome Sweet Gnome collection. I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured her with copic markers. I cut out the image panel with the Rounded Banner STAX Die-namics. I cut apart the sentiment and attached it to the image panel with my Tiny Attacher (which I finally picked up last week and I adore it!). The base layer is Kraft card stock and I layered it onto Hot Fudge for a punch of dark colour. I added a Hot Fudge grosgrain ribbon bow but I find it really difficult to edit a photo so the brown doesn't look like black. Anyone else have that problem? Anyone know how to fix it without washing out the other colours???

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from the set and mimicked the layout on the front of the card.

Hopefully you'll find some time to play along with the MFT Guest Designer Challenge - October. The prize is huge and you also get to play along with the design team for teasers! Fun!!!

Turning 1

A special little boy is turning one today so I made this colourful card to celebrate his big day.

I used By the Numbers Stamps and Die-namics from My Favorite Things and the fun layout from Cardabilities #59 sketch.

The Layered Labels Die-namics were perfect for layering the sentiment and creating a larger focal point. Then I jazzed it up thanks to the Star STAX Die-namics and the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics. The number "1" was cut out of cork and I used patterned papers from the My Mind's Eye Playdate collection paired with Red Hot, Sour Apple, Kraft, and Sweet Tooth card stocks.

On the inside I combined a couple more words from By the Numbers Stamps and Die-namics to create the sentiment then I mimicked the flags on the front. The Red Hot half circle was cut out with one of the smaller sizes from the Circle 1 STAX Die-namics.

Happy Birthday Jonah!!!

You're a Classic {MFTWSC90}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch 90.

I decided to go the masculine route with my card today and created a birthday card for one of the upcoming "guy" birthdays in my family.

I used At the Movies Stamps and Die-namics and flipped the sketch to work with the sentiment. I inked the words with Versafine Onyx Black and I love how crisp the lines are. For the arrow I used Versamagic Red Magic and for the yellow dashed line I used Versamagic Thatched Straw. The big negative was cut from Black Licorice card stock.

I used the Mini Film Strip Die-namics to cut out two Sweet Tooth strips and the Star STAX Die-namics was perfect for the big Red Hot star. I used the Stacking Stars Die-namics to cut out the smaller star and added a Lemon Drop button tied with Hemp Cord. The patterned paper is from the Authentique Celebrate collection

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from the set and added a row of numbers for a little more detail. Once I decide just who this card is for I think I'll circle the proper numbers in red marker, or cross off the numbers that don't apply.

Here are the sketchy details:

There's a prize each week for one participant, chosen at random. You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish. Each week a keyword is assigned to the sketch, and this week's keyword is MFTWSC90. All you need to do to enter is upload your card to the gallery at Splitcoast and enter the given keyword in the keyword box during the upload process. After the deadline (noon Eastern on Tuesday) we randomly choose a winner from that week's entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher. If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!

Be sure to head over to the MFT Blog to view the entire list of design team participants...there's plenty of inspiration for you with today’s sketch!

Peace

Today I have a card to share for the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge. You'll find the details on this thread on Splitcoast. This is a monthly feature where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month we were challenged to create a project without using patterned paper. GASP!!! I know!!!! But I did it!!! Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers.

I used Inspired by Christmas and created card #29 for Project Christmas 2012. The layout is Mojo258.

The lines on the sketch reminded me of my Distressed Stripes embossing folder, so I used it to create texture on a piece of Kraft card stock and added more interest with plenty of glitter.

I stamped the gorgeous Santa image with white pigment ink onto Wild Cherry card stock then embossed it with white embossing powder. The circles were cut out using the Circles 1 STAX Die-namics and the Circles 2 STAX Die-namics, then I stitched them together. I added two strips of Sweet Tooth ribbon as per the sketch.

The Sno Cone snowflake was cut out with the middle size of the Let it Snowflake Die-namics and I topped it with a Sweet Tooth button tied with Hemp Cord.

For the little tab accents I used the Mix and Match Banners Die-namics and the circle from Sunshine Die-namics.

On the inside I used the Harlequin Die-namics to layer Sweet Tooth and Wild Cherry layers and stamped another sentiment from Inspired by Christmas on the Kraft layer.
