Hello, a Sale, and an Announcement

Phew, I have lots to share in today's post so let me get the housekeeping in order.

In case you haven't heard yet, there's a Virtual Sidewalk Sale going on over in the MFT Boutique. Hooray!!! Select stamp sets and Die-namics are on sale for up to 75% off!!! Wowzers those prices are amazing so hurry on over and pick up a few new goodies. And don't forget about the other ways to save too. All the sale details are in THIS POST on the MFT Blog.

But before you run off to the MFT Boutique, there's a new stamper joining the MFT design team, just in time for Teaser week tomorrow.  But you'll have to hop over to the MFT Blog to find out who it is.

And now, if you're still with me (thank you very much to those who stuck around!) I have a card to share. The challenge this week over at A Random Thursday Challenge is "anything goes" so I created this pretty card for ARTC11.

I saw a cool inlay technique on Jennifer McGuire's blog recently and I thought I'd give it a whirl. Boy she's brilliant with all her fabulous techniques! I started with a Sweet Tooth card base then added a layer of Kraft. For the sentiment along the bottom I used the Happy Hellos Die-namics to cut out the Steel Grey piece, then I cut it out again from Sweet Tooth. I inlayed the white 'hello' into the Steel Grey piece and filled in the loops in the letters with the small grey pieces. I backed the grey layer with some Pink Lemonade which I cut out using the Small Scallop Border Die-namics.

For the flowers on the card I used the Splendid Sunflower set and stamped the flowers onto Smooth White cardstock using Pink Lemonade Premium Dye Ink, Kraft Premium Dye Ink and Steel Blue Premium Dye Ink.

I'm quite pleased with how this card turned out, and as a bonus, it's super flat for mailing.

See you back here tomorrow for day one of MFT Teasers!

Happy Holidays

Today I'm sharing a quick and easy holiday card. This is card #16 for Project Christmas 2013.

I started out with a Sweet Tooth card base then added a layer of Fuse Green and Kraft. My colour choices were actually taken from a new pad of patterned paper that I intended on using, Authentique Tradition collection, but then I decided to create my own patterned paper using the Plaid Builder Background...love it!! I stamped the plaid directly onto the Kraft layer using Kraft Premium Dye Ink, Fuse Green Premium Dye Ink, and Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink. The layout is STS#2 from the Seize the Sketch blog, but I made a vertical layout instead of horizontal.

Along the bottom of the card I used the Accent It - Celebrate Die-namics to cut out the Electric Red piece then I stamped the "holidays" from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. I could have left the card alone at this point...it would have been a gorgeous clean and simple design and super easy for mass production, but I decided to follow the sketch.

I used the Christmas Ornaments Die-namics to cut out the Steel Blue ornament and Fuse Green holly leaves, then I added three clear rhinestones and coloured them with my R46 copic marker. I stamped the hanging string using an image from Christmas Ornaments and Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. Then I used a black copic multiliner to add the string mark on the ornament hanger to give it the illusion of being properly hung, instead of merely floating in mid air.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about Christmas using Electric Red Premium Dye Ink.

Hooray {MFTWSC138}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch 138.

You'll find all the details about this week's sketch challenge on the MFT Blog, and you could be the lucky winner of some MFT Money just for playing along!

I really stuck to the sketch this week...quite literally...tiny flags and all. I started with a Sweet Tooth card base then added a layer of Bubblegum and a layer of Steel Grey. I stamped the Steel Grey using Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink and the Darling Dots stamp set.

For the main panel I cut out a rectangle of Kraft then chose a sentiment from Birthday Greetings and stamped it with Blu Raspberry Premium Dye ink. I used the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics and the Fishtail Flags Layers STAX Die-namics to cut out the Blu Raspberry and Banana Split flags then stitched them in place. Along the bottom of the sentiment panel I added a strip of Bubblegum stamped with the small chevrons from Washi Patterns. I finished the sentiment panel by wrapping it with Hemp Cord and adding a Banana Split button.

Along the bottom of the card I used the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namics to cut out the Blu Raspberry scallop then I jazzed it up with some white microfine glitter. There's not a ton of sparkle in this glitter...it's more like a satin look, but I just couldn't do a good job of capturing it in a photo. Sorry!

I hope you'll play along this week and link your creation on the MFT Blog.
