Sweet Sunday Sketch Time

It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch, SSSC136. 

I don't have a card for you just yet...it's coming...I promise...just a little later today. I did some major damage to my computer (cracked the LCD screen...yikes!) so I need to set up the new computer (yay!) before I can edit my card and post it for you. And, well, I was also gone all last week and the hubster wanted to watch a movie last night while I was supposed to be doing my Sweet Sunday post and photo editing. Needless to say, time ran out. But here's the sketch and I promise I'll be back today with my card...it's another Christmas card to add to my stash so I hope you'll stop by later. 

In the meantime, I'm sure the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers have some fabulous samples to share.

Sending You Hugs {MFTWSC38}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch 38.

I went for a soft, feminine look using First Class Friend stamp and die-namics set. I really love how you can achieve such different looks with this stamp set, and you already know that I ♥ the postage frame die!!

I took another tip from Jody this week and created a shiny crackle frame by adhering three layers of the frame together then covering it with Ranger Crackle Accents. You can't really see the crackle on the computer because the frame is a dark colour, but trust me, it's there, and it's fabulous!!! The patterned papers are from the Blush paper pad by My Mind's Eye.

For the heart embellishement I paired the hearts a plenty die-namics with the heart from homespun birdhouse die-namics. Love that MFT considers how new shapes will layer with previously released shapes. Thanks MFT! And yes, that's a little burlap heart for a bit of a shabby touch.  I used the double scallop border die-namic for the feminine scallops and added some lace trim for good measure.

MFT VIP New Product Tour

There's just a little copic colouring on this image because I paper pieced her shirt. The patterned papers are from the Vanity Fair 6x6 paper pad by My Mind's Eye. The layout is Jen's September sketch for you to try. I layered the image onto some Hot Fudge cardstock that I cut out with the dizzy doily duo.

I used the larger banner from the first place award ribbon die-namics for the sentiment and added a pretty rolled gardenia flower.

The sentiments on both the front and the inside are from the Choose Hope Sentiments mini set...the one that's exclusive to the VIP collection. You won't want to miss out on these fabulous additions to the main WTG Chooses Hope set. I used the layered labels die-namics for the inside sentiment.

Sweet Sunday Holiday Wishes

It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC135.

Hooray for getting another Christmas card done this week! This brings my "Project Christmas 2011" total to 17 cards. Still way less than I'll need, but at least it's progress.

I used à la mode - Candy Cane Kisses from MFT and I flipped the sketch to accommodate her. She's stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with copics. I gave the candy cane some sparkle by colouring it with my red Spica glitter pen. The sentiment is on one of the banners from the First Place Award Ribbon die-namics and for the circle element I used the dizzy doily die-namic. The middle size of the Let it Snowflake die-namics was the perfect size for a little embellishment.

All the coloured cardstock is from MFT: cotton candy, wild cherry, sour apple and sno cone. The patterned paper is an older one from Doodlebug, the Winter Wonderland collection.

Beautiful Day {MFTWSC37}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch #37.

This week it's another fabulous sketch which can be either clean and simple or all dolled up, like I did.

I used Pure Innocence - Sunflower Girl and in keeping with the "no colouring" design team challenge from yesterday, I held back and only coloured the sunflower to really spotlight it. I still used quite a few copic markers for one little flower, but if it's gonna be the center of attention, then it better look good, right?

I framed this little cutie with the postage shape from First Class Friend die-namics. The patterned papers are all from the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found 2 Sunshine paper pack, and I threw in a few Fossil layers for good measure. I used the Upsy Daisy die-namics to create the flower and attached the button with cappucino twine. I also used the flower border die-namic to cut out the strip of yellow flowers and tucked it behind the layers to hide the seam of my patterned papers.

On the inside I used the woodgrain fence die-namic along with the open scallop doily die-namic to mimic the sun.

MFT September Creative Challenge - No Colouring!

Yikes!!! Seriously??? No colouring??????? I actually thought this was going to be more difficult that it was and I'm super happy with how my card turned out. Not to mention it came together really quickly since I didn't spend any time colouring!!!

In 2011, MFT is working harder than ever to inspire you, and we have come up with something we think you'll really enjoy. Our Design Team Creative Challenge is a new monthly feature, where we challenge our design team to explore their creative side using a specific theme, product or technique. This month, we're all putting down the markers, pencils and paints and sharing projects with No Coloring!   Visit Kim's Blog for a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge!

For my card I inked up this month's WTG, Who's that Mummy. I didn't get a chance to use her during teasers and I thought she was perfect for this challenge.

If you look closely at the image you'll see that she's stamped onto patterned paper. There's a very light grey harlequin motif with some script running through it. It's light enough that it doesn't obscure the image but it added just enough pattern to keep it interesting. The only solid cardstock I used on this card is Black Licorice, and Sweet Tooth for the card base. The rest of the papers are from my Fancy Pants Oct 31st 6x6 paper pad.

You'll notice a few of the new die-namics, the mini pennant and the prima donna petals. The dizzy border is tucked in there too because I thought the lacey look of it was kinda spider web-ish. I finished it off with a charcoal twine bow.

I hope you'll take this month's challenge and put away the markers, pencils and paints for a card or two.

Sweet Sunday Angel

It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC134.

I've completely fallen behind in my Christmas card making for this year, and I know I'm going to have a tough time catching up, but there's no time like the present to start, right? With that said, this is Project Christmas 2011, card #16.

I used one of the beautiful angels from Joy to the World, available at Taylored Expressions. This is the current TE Giving Tree set and $5 from the sale of each set will be donated to The Angel Tree.

She's stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto choice buttercream and coloured with copics. I paper pieced her dress using My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas paper, and the music paper is from the same pack. I cut out the image with rectangle nestabilities and then in order to fit the red layer underneath, I simply chopped off the embossed edge of the cream layer and cut the red layer using the exact same size rectangle nestie. That ensured the brown scallop rectangle would fit perfectly. I used the scalloped eyelet border die then created the mini roses using the heart border die. I saw this on Charmaine's blog a few days ago and she did a great video tutorial showing how to make the flowers. Thanks for this fabulous idea Charmaine!

Toadally Miss You {MFTWSC36}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch 36.

For my card I used one of the sweet new Pure Innocence images that were released last night, Feeling Froggy.

Is she not just totally adorable with those little pig tails?!?

She's stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with copics. I drew in the grass with  an array of coloured pencils. I needed a place for a sentiment on the front of the card so I used the small talk bubble die-namic from Say What. That gorgeous polka dot flower is the new rolled mum die-namic. I totally cased Jody's idea to make sprays in the center of the flower...love it! The jumbo ric rac die-namic finishes off the front of the card. The patterned paper is My Mind's Eye Everyday Flair and the solid cardstock is from MFT, Orange Fizz and Berrylicious.

On the inside I stamped and coloured the toad then placed him in front of grass that I cut with my fresh cut grass die-namic. The flat-bottom cloud die-namics provided the perfect finishing touch for the inside.
