Grateful For you

I have a quick post to share today, in honour of Memorial Day. I had good intentions of having this post up much earlier in the day but I was making the card late last night and decided to add Stickles to the stars. If you've ever used Stickles, you know it takes hours to dry...which brings us to now.

I've been living in the USA for almost five years now and I'm still so impressed with the patriotism here. It really is heartwarming and you see it everywhere. We were at the Reds game yesterday (sadly they lost to the Cubs in the 10th inning) and coincidentally, between the team uniform colours and the colours the fans were wearing, it was a sea of blue, white and red...quite fitting for Memorial Day weekend, not to mention all the parades and celebrations going on.

My card is quite simple and I used CTS#29 from the Case This Sketch blog for the layout and supplies from My Favorite Things. I started with a Whip Cream card base then added a layer of Kraft and a layer of Nightshift Blue. I chose a sentiment from Pure Innocence Soldier Girl and embossed it with vanilla embossing powder. Then I used the star from On the Line to stamp the starry background with versamark ink. I used the Spring Backgrounds stamp set to create the red and white striped piece using Red Hot Premium Dye Ink. I inked all the edges with Kraft Premium Dye Ink. I used the Stacking Stars Die-namics to cut out the three Kraft stars, covered them with Star Dust Stickles and added a Whip Cream button tied with Hemp Cord.

Happy Memorial Day!

Here are the supplies I used:
