White Christmas

I know that tomorrow is the first day of fall, but I have a Christmas card to share today. This is card #17 for Project Christmas 2013.

I combined two challenges on this card. The layout is ART15 from A Random Thursday blog and the all white colour scheme is C4C203 from the Crazy for Challenges blog. I thought the all white challenge was absolutely perfect for snowflakes.

I used Sweet Tooth card stock for the card base and for all the elements on the card. I used the Washi Patterns Die-namics to cut out the two washi strips then stamped them with patterns from the Washi Patterns stamp set, using Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink. After a few minutes I realized I could emboss them with white powder, but I think the ink had tried a tad too much and I didn't get complete coverage with the embossing powder. But I still like the end result...it's almost like distressed embossing to me. Like the "snow" has been wiped off the patterns. The sentiment from Stitched Stockings was stamped with Steel Blue Premium Dye Ink.
I used the largest of the Let It Snowflake Die-namics to cut out the Sweet Tooth snowflake then I gave it a generous coating of Sheer Sparkle Glitter Glaze. Once that dried I mounted the snowflake on foam tape.
Here's a shot of the shine on the snowflake. I love that it's both sparkly and shiny! And by the way, I discovered that it is not easy to photograph an all white card, so my apologies for the poor photos.

Happy Birthday

Hooray it's Friday!!! Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? It's Octoberfest here in Cincinnati (as I'm sure it is elsewhere too) so I'm sure we'll be partaking in the festivities in one way or another. My friend told me the event kicks off at noon today with a dog race downtown...Dachshunds dressed up as hot dogs running across the square. How cute is that!!! But I have a question for you. Why is a festival called Octoberfest held in September???? Things that make you go Hmmmm...

Anywhooo...my card has nothing to do with Octoberfest. Instead I have a sweet birthday card to share  that I made using Pure Innocence Birthday Girl from My Favorite Things.

I started with a Sweet Tooth card base then added a layer of Razzle Berry and another layer of Sweet Tooth.

I stamped Pure Innocence Birthday Girl with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card then coloured her with copic markers. I paper pieced her skirt with polka dot paper from the Echo Park Here & Now collection, then I fussy cut around her. I used the Pierced Rectangle STAX Die-namics to cut out the Pink Lemonade rectangle and adhered the girl with foam tape. The layout is Mojo311 (minus the bow because it just didn't work since I flipped the sketch).

For the horizontal strip I cut a piece of Berrylicious card stock to size then stamped it with Border It - Mod Borders using Berrylicious Premium Dye Ink. I used the Scallop Ribbon Die-namics to cut out the Lemon Drop scallop and the Rounded Banner Trio Die-namics to cut out the Razzle Berry half circle. I stamped the sentiment with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink.

On the inside I stamped the girl again with Razzle Berry Premium Dye Ink then added another sentiment from Pure Innocence Birthday Girl.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks {MFTWSC142}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch 142.

Hop over to the MFT Blog for all the details and to link up your creation. You could win up to a $20 gift certificate to the MFT Boutique just for playing along!

I created a fall thank you card with this week's sketch. I'm not sure I'm ready to let go of the warm summer weather just yet though. But I guess the payoff is all the lovely fall colours...beautiful nature!

I started with a card base of Primitive White then added layers of Olive and Kraft. The cluster of leaves was created by first cutting out the Smooth White leaves with the Fall Foliage Die-namics. Then I stamped the leaves from Fall Foliage with Olive Premium Dye Ink, Fuse Green Premium Dye Ink, Tangy Orange Premium Dye Ink, Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink, and Kraft Premium Dye Ink.

For the sentiment I used the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics to cut out the Primitive White flag, then I stamped 'thanks' with Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink.

On the lower part of the card I added layers of Fuse Green and Tangy Orange. Then I stamped the dots from Large Scale Backgrounds (this month's Free with $60 set) with Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink. I tied a Hemp Cord bow to finish it off.

On the inside I added the swirl stamped in Fuse Green Premium Dye Ink then I stamped the rest of the sentiment with Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink.

Have fun with this week's sketch!
