Birthdays Galore

It's time to shop for all the new products that were just released by My Favorite Things. You'll find it all in the Brand Spankin' New section of the MFT Boutique.

The design team has a recap of all the new stamp sets though, so hop over to the MFT Blog for a list of participating designers. Don't forget to comment as you hop along because there's a $50 Gift Voucher to the MFT Boutique up for grabs for one lucky person!

I used the fabulous Birthday Sentiments stamp set for my cards tonight. This is the Triple Scoop set for March which means you'll receive it FREE with a qualifying $60 order! How sweet is that!!!

I love love LOVE working with this set. I created two feminine cards and one masculine card, and they're all clean and simple designs.

First up is my version of the chalkboard technique. I call it my clean chalkboard. LOL!

I started with a Sweet Tooth card base then cut out a square of Black Licorice cardstock. I chose two sentiments from Birthday Sentiments, stamped them with versamark ink and embossed them with white powder. Then I chose the circle image from Lollipop Additions - Birthday and stamped it the same way. Everything turned out so nice and crisp that I was afraid I'd ruin it if I tried to give it the true chalkboard look, hence my "clean" chalkboard. I layered the Black Licorice square onto Pink Lemonade and added two white brads in the top corners.

Along the bottom I added some fun polka dot hats that I cut out using the Party Hat Border Die-namics. I first cut it out of patterned paper from the My Mind's Eye My Girl Collection, then I cut it out a second time from Razzle Berry card stock so I could layer the pompoms and trim. I added some clear rhinestones for a little bling and mounted the party hats on foam tape for dimension.

**********
My next card uses the same layout but it's a masculine birthday card, on a Sweet Tooth card base again.

The sentiment panel was fun to create. I saw Frances use this technique on a card recently and thought it would be perfect for a masculine card.

I chose four copic marker colours, coloured a grid of 1" squares onto Smooth White card stock, then dripped colourless blender ink onto it to create the splotches. Then I stamped the sentiments from Birthday Sentiments using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. The zig zag image is also from the Lollipop Additions - Birthday stamp set. Four black brads in the corners and this card was done!

**********
Last but not least is another feminine card.

I let the new à la modes Big Birthday Numbers take center stage on the front of my card. I stamped them onto the same polka dot paper as the party hats in my first card then covered them in glitter and added a thick layer of Glossy Accents for some sparkle and shine. I added a Razzle Berry button tied with Hemp cord and the Kraft tag is from the Blueprints 1 Die-namics. I used a strip of Pink Lemonade to ground the numbers and added the contrasting Black Licorice accent which was cut out using the Party Hat Border Die-namics.

I used the Party Banner Die-namics to cut out another patterned paper, then I cut out a Razzle Berry banner and trimmed off all the flags (I only wanted the top strip for contrast).

On the inside I chose two stamps from Birthday Sentiments and stamped them with Razzle Berry Premium Dye Ink and Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. The longest part of making this card was waiting for the Glossy Accents to dry.

Happy shopping!
