Orange and Green and Blue, Oh My!

It's time for the monthly Creative Challenge with the My Favorite Things Design Team. This month is all about colours and favourite combinations using MFT cardstock, ink, felt, ribbon and buttons. Be sure to hop over to the MFT Blog for a complete list of participating designers.

My favourite colour combo varies throughout the year but currently I'm really drawn to orange, which pairs beautifully with blue and green for a fresh feel. My three cards today use coordinating supplies in Orange Fizz, Sour Apple and Blu Raspberry, paired with Sweet Tooth as the neutral colour.

I channeled my inner clean and simple self on this first card.

I started with a piece of Sweet Tooth card stock then stamped the diamonds from Distressed Diamonds with Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink along the bottom third. I added a strip of Blu Raspberry grosgrain ribbon as a separator. I used the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics to cut out the Sweet Tooth flag then stamped the sentiment from All Smiles using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink.

I used the Flower Medley Die-namics for the floral accent. I cut the bottom layer from Orange Fizz felt, the mid layer from Orange Fizz card stock, and the top layer from Sour Apple card stock. I topped the flower with a Blu Raspberry button tied with Hemp Cord. I cut out the Sour Apple leaves using the Upsy Daisy Die-namics.

Next I have another simple card which started out using CTS19 as the layout, but then I added layers and ribbon and it morphed into this.

The background panels are Sweet Tooth and Blu Raspberry card stocks stitched together. I added a layer of Orange Fizz along the bottom and a strip of Orange Fizz grosgrain ribbon.

For the main panel I used the Flower and Leaf Trio Die-namics to cut out nine Orange Fizz flowers, using the smallest size of the three flowers. I adhered them to the Sweet Tooth square then layered it onto Sour Apple card stock. Rhinestones in the center of the flowers add just the right amount of bling.

I used the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics to cut out the Blue Raspberry banner for the sentiment, which is from the Big Greetings stamp set. I stamped it with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink and popped it on foam tape for dimension.

My last card is brighter thanks to less white space, but it's makes me smile just looking at the happy colour combination!

I used the fabulous Blueprints 1 Die-namics to cut out all four layers on this card but the layout is all my own, not one of the provided sketches (I was feeling especially creative!).

I used Pure Innocence Freckles and stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card. I coloured her with copic markers but her shirt needed a little texture so I used my colourless blender marker to add the polka dots for a fun effect. I added a strip of Blu Raspberry grosgrain ribbon across the base layers.

You'll notice that the background layer has polka dots...I stamped them onto the Blu Raspberry layer using the Darling Dots stamp set and Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink. I used the Pretty Posies Die-namics to cut out the flower from Blu Raspberry felt and Blu Raspberry card stock. I topped it with an Orange Fizz button tied with Hemp Cord.

On the inside I stamped the girl again with Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink then added one of the sentiments from Pure Innocence Freckles using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. To tie in the colour combination I used the Little Open Scallop Strip Die-namics to cut out the Sour Apple scallop and topped it with a narrow strip of Orange Fizz card stock.

I hope you enjoyed my fresh colour combination.  :-)
