It's time for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC184.
I created a Christmas card to add to my stash, making this card #7 for Project Christmas 2013. This isn't just any 'ole card though, I made it with a specific person in mind. My sister-in-law loves the colour purple and each year I try and create a mostly purple card for her (and my brother, but we all know who really appreciates the card). I'm a big fan of non-traditional Christmas colours and I just love how this card turned out.
I started with a Sweet Tooth card base then I added a layer of Grapesicle cardstock. I created my own patterned papers by stamping one of the images from Darling Dots with Kraft Premium Dye Ink onto Kraft cardstock. Then I chose one of the small snowflakes from Christmas Ornaments and stamped it with Grape Jelly Premium Dye Ink onto Grape Jelly cardstock. I inked around the edges of the patterned paper with white chalk ink for a more wintery feel.
For the image I chose Pure Innocence Merry Kissmas and stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card. Then I coloured it with copic markers. I added some white liquid appliqué to her hat and left it to dry a few hours before puffing it. You get smaller "puffs" when you let it dry instead of puffing it with the heat tool right away. I used the Circle 1 STAX Die-namics to cut out the image panel and popped it on foam tape for a little dimension.
For the sentiment I used the Mix and Match Banners Die-namics, cutting the banner from Grapesicle cardstock. I trimmed it with scissors so it wasn't quite as long. Then I stamped the sentiment with Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink.
On the inside I stamped another sentimen from Pure Innocence Merry Kissmas then added the two-tone purple border by cutting out Grapesicle and Grape Jelly cardstock using the Harlequin Die-namics. I stamped small snowflakes with Grape Jelly Premium Dye ink along the border to reinforce the winter theme.
I hope you'll play along and link your creations on Karen's Blog. Now it's time to hop around and see what the rest of the Sweet Sunday Stampers created.
