Today is all about the new Die-namics and I have a fun ornament project to share.
I used the gorgeous new Poinsettia Die-namics to create this whimsical tree ornament. The detail lines on the petals and leaves take this die over the top!
I started by using the largest size of the Decorative Circle Tag STAX Die-namics to cut out the corrugated cardboard base for the flower. I inked the corrugated cardboard with Frayed Burlap for a bit of a distressed look and to make the ridges stand out a little more. Then I used the Poinsettia Die-namics to cut out the flower from Wild Cherry and Paver Red card stock. The leaves were cut from Jellybean Green cardstock and the center of the flower is Lemon Drop card stock. I did lots of inking with Frayed Burlap on all the layers and around the edges of the petals and leaves, but it doesn't really show up in the pictures. Trust me, it's kinda antique-ish looking in real life...like it's seen several Christmas trees, in a good way. I added a clear rhinestone to the center for just a little shine and coloured it with my Y26 copic marker.
To hang the ornament I added a big eyelet and a loop of Jellybean Green grosgrain ribbon. All the flower layers are adhered together with foam boosters so there's lots of dimension. I repeated everything on the back side of the ornament so it'll be pretty no matter how is spins around on the tree. But then I got to thinking, this would make a gorgeous gift tag if you left the backside blank for writing on. My head is swimming with all the possibilities for the Poinsettia Die-namics...love!
