Rainy Day Smile

When I sat down to stamp last night I knew I wanted to make an MFT card, so I rifled through my drawer full of MFT goodness to see what inspired me and my Rainy Day Friends brought a smile to my face (and apparently it brought a smile to your face too because it's currently out of stock in the MFT store so I couldn't link to it). And it hadn't even been inked yet, so I went with it. It also fit quite nicely with the MFT sketch on Splitcoast, MFTSC96.

The first thing I did after choosing the image was look for this bright, fun paper from My Mind's Eye Penny Lane. I wouldn't call myself a purple girl but for some reason I really love colouring with purple and green. :)

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Choice Snow White and coloured it with copics. I cut it out with my paper trimmer...yup...no nesties this time! Then I doodled around the edge. I contemplated sewing or piercing, but the doodling won out. The last thing I added once the card was all finished was some yellow Stickles to the buttons on her coat, then I went to bed to let it dry overnight. The image is layered onto Orchid Opulence and I stitched that to a scallop piece of Elegant Eggplant.

The white card base is 5.25 inches square. I stitched the patterned paper onto more Orchid Opulence before adhering it to the card base. My intention for the two green pieces on the sides was to use a split sentiment but the one I really wanted to use just didn't fit (it was way too big) and I wasn't feelin' any other sentiment so I went with two green polka dot bows (tied with my Bow Easy of course!). I finished the card with a small ghost flower and a button from my stash.

I really should have been using this set earlier in the summer when we were getting all that rain cause we don't have any in the forecast now. Oh well...sometimes we just have to stamp with what we're feelin'...right?!?

Thanks for stopping by!
Karen

  12. I am a purple girl and I love, love, love your paper and the colors you used to color that raincoat! The stitching is great and so is that nifty ghost flower. I finally got some ghost snowflakes after admiring them on a couple of your cards. Had to get them from Canada of all places...tee hee:))
