Cheers

Happy New Year!!!

I have a fun new years card to share, and a little secret that you'll have to hop over to the MFT blog to find out. What could it be...hmmm...maybe one new design team member, or two?!?

I used Clearly Sentimental about New Beginnings from My Favorite Things for today's card, paired with star patterned paper from the October Afternoon Midway collection.

I started with a base of Whip Cream card stock then added a layer of Steel Grey and Razzle Berry cardstock. I used the Solid Bracket Border Die-namics to cut out two Whip Cream strips then stitched them to to the star paper. I used the Medium Fancy Flourish Die-namics to cut out the Pink Lemonade cardstock and coated it with Star Dust Stickles. The Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics was perfect for the sentiment, and once I'd stamped it onto the flag, I ran it through my vagabond again to create the fishtail at the other end. The card needed a little accent so I used the Stacking Stars Die-namics to cut out the Razzle Berry stars and coated them with Star Dust Stickles for even more shimmer.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from Clearly Sentimental about New Beginnings. The layout on the front is PP123.

Here are the supplies I used.

Angels {MFTWSC104}

It's time to get sketchy with the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club and sketch 104.

I bet it's no surprise to you that I flipped the sketch...I seem to do that a lot! LOL!

I used Pure Innocence Angel for today's card and a soft palette of colours from the Glitz Hello Friend paper pad. I started with a card base of Whip Cream then added a layer of Kraft and Pink Lemonade. I embossed the pink layer with my swiss dots embossing folder. Then I moved on to the focal point of the sketch.

I stamped Pure Innocence Angel with Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-Press It Blending Card and coloured her with copic markers. I paper pieced her gown and added glitter to her wings and halo. I used the Rectangle 1 STAX Die-namics to cut out the Kraft layer and embossed it with my modern wallpaper embossing folder. She's mounted on foam tape for a little dimension.

For the little tab I used the Mix & Match Banners Die-namics to cut out a piece of Whip Cream, then I trimmed it down to size. The word "Angels" is part of a longer sentiment but I only wanted that word so I carefully inked it with my tuxedo black dew drop (the pointed end makes it easier to get into tight places, like the edges of a word without catching the letters beside it). I used the Hearts-a-Plenty Die-namics to cut out one of the patterned papers from the Glitz collection, then added a Whip Cream button tied with Hemp Cord.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from All Occasion Sentiments. I love that the font coordinates with the fonts in all the Pure Innocence sets.

This card is dedicated to Sandy Hook Elementary School and the families of Newtown, Connecticut.

There's a prize each week for one participant, chosen at random. You may use any stamps and supplies that you wish. Each week a keyword is assigned to the sketch, and this week's keyword is MFTWSC104. All you need to do to enter is upload your card to the gallery at Splitcoast and enter the given keyword in the keyword box during the upload process. After the deadline (noon Eastern on Tuesday) we randomly choose a winner from that week's entries and the winner will receive a $15 gift voucher. If the winning card uses MFT stamps, the participant will earn a $5 bonus, for a total of a $20 gift voucher!

Be sure to head over to the MFT Blog to view the entire list of design team participants...there's plenty of inspiration for you with today’s sketch!

Let It Snow

Let it Snow, please. I'm not wishing for a lot...just enough for skiing, but not too much that it hampers people's travel plans over the holidays.  :-)

ETA: when I typed this post up a week and a half ago, I had no idea we'd be in the midst of a big winter storm. Safe travels everyone!

I created a very clean and simple card today. This was another quick one. I think the longest part of making the card was waiting for the ink to dry, but I don't have a lot of patience so I sped up that process with my heat tool.

I used the Christmas Ornaments stamp set paired with a sentiment from Document It - December, both from My Favorite Things. The layout is CTS#9 and the snowflake theme is for PP126.

I started with a Whip Cream card base then added a layer of Berrylicious. I stamped the large snowflake with Versamark ink onto the Kraft rectangle then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Next I stamped the two smaller snowflakes with Versamagic Turquoise Gem and I added the hanging lines using Memento Desert Sand. I stamped the sentiment from Document It - December with Versamagic Cloud White and inked the edges of the Kraft and Berrylicious layers with Cloud White ink. I didn't feel like the sentiment was bright enough though so once I was sure it was good I dry I stamped it again with Versamark ink, offset a little, then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I added three rhinestones to the snowflakes for a little bling.

On the inside I simply stamped one more hanging snowflake from the Christmas Ornaments stamp set.
