This is a very special card for Emily, THE Stamping Bella herself. It's her two year Bella-versary coming up on Dec 7th, and over on the Bella-riffic Friday blog the theme for this week is to create a card with a 'celebrate' theme.
So I chose the Springtini image because I just love the flowers and butterfly. I was colouring the image at the same time as I was colouring the Holiday Birds image, so you can see that I used many of the same copics. (I'm sure I'm not the only stamper who's done this, but hubby asked me to watch a movie with him on Sat night. It was one I was interested in seeing, but I was more interested in stamping. So I stamped some images onto a sheet of paper, carted ALL my copics to the basement along with the patterned paper I'd chosen for inspiration, and set myself up at our games table. Well, hubby calls it a games table, really it's another stamping table masquerading as a games table. I did catch snippets of the movie and laugh at appropriate times, but he still commented that I wasn't really watching the movie. Oh well...at least we were on the same level in the house! grin!)
Back to the card...the image was stamped with Memento black onto PTI white, coloured with Copics and cut out with my new nesties, Labels 2.
You can see in the close-up that I coloured an extra butterfly wing and flower and layered them on the image for dimension. The flower is only attached in the centre.
I bent the petals upward and also off-set the petals so the flower would be more full. To attach the butterfly wing, I cut out the wing, leaving
a little tab of white paper at the bottom of the wing, which I bent backwards. It's that little tab of paper that's attached to the image so the wing can lift off the paper. I guess I should have taken a picture of that...too late...the cards already on it's way to Em.
The pink mat and patterned paper are other designs from the Basic Grey Sultry line. I used my SU scallop punch on a strip of chocolate paper (see...there it is again...more chocolate) and tucked it under the floral paper. The green is Kiwi Kiss, which I ran through the D'Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. The card base is Pink Pirouette, and it's a square card measuring 5.25 x 5.25. Practically the same colours as the Holiday Birds card, but a completely different feel.
As I was laying out the card pieces, I realized there wasn't any space on the front for the sentiment I wanted to use...hmmmm....that was poor planning, and I didn't want to put it on the inside this time cause I had to leave space to write a note....hmmmm...then it struck me...make a pull-out tag for the sentiment! Brilliant! And it happened to fit perfectly under the image.
The tag doesn't come all the way out though...there's a stopper attached to it on the 'innerds' of the card. The sentiment, by the way, is from Rubber Soul.
The card needed some bling, so I used my Gelly Roll Stardust pen again (love that thing) and added some shimmer to the raised flower and the butterfly wing. I also added three Bella Bonbons in the top left corner and a rhinestone brad to hold the ribbon in place. I hope she likes it! Em, if you're looking...keep your eyes closed til you get the real on in the mail.
Thanks for stopping by!
Karen
